2006
This is an open letter to Cal 4 Wheel Drive members and clubs
Thank You from the members of West Coast 4x4 Club, Inc. and the Toys for Tots Program for participating in the past 21 years of the West Coast 4 Wheel Drive Club event held each year in December. This event has been a mainstay for our club and has been a lot of fun. To date, we have raised thousands of dollars to buy toys and have received thousands of toys from clubs and club members, all for the purpose of supporting the Marines in their Toys for Tots program.
The time has finally come where the club is ready to pass the baton to another organization or club. The West Coast members have found themselves making time for the event instead of looking forward to it. It has become a burden instead of fun due to the increased schedules and responsibilities of the club members at home and at work.
This next year will be the last year West Coast 4 WDC will sponsor the event. We plan to meet at the same staging area we did last year and decorate our rigs. We will run the same parade route we have done in the past and still meet at the same location at the Santa Ana River Lakes to collect the toys and meet the Marines. The only difference is that we will only be collecting toys at the park. There will be no raffle, no T shirts and no Dash Plaques.
The raffle has been great success. It has brought in a large amount of money which we use to purchase toys. In my opinion, this last year was the best. The issue is that it takes a lot of time and resources for the club members which is becoming harder and harder to get each year.
West Coast 4 WDC extends an invitation to any other club or individual to take over the event in the future. Host it at what ever location fits with your club, change it which ever way fits your club’s agenda. Without your help, this will be the last year of the event.
Thank you again on behalf of all the West Coast club members. If you feel you want to take over the event, please notify us via the post office box listed above or the email address located in our web site.
