WEST COAST 4-WHEEL DRIVE CLUB
VEHICLE INSPECTION DAY
SATURDAY, FEB. 9, 2002
We had quite a turnout and we had quite an assembly/check line. I have 15 rig
reports, but I know that there were about 20 rigs, so don't know what happened to the
other lists.
Almost everyone had something that needed attention. Here are a few:
- Axle bearings loose
- Trans mounts gone
- Short break lines
- A bunch of universals that needed lube
- Bad Steering/axle universals
- No mounts for the fire extinguisher
- Lost or bad radiator caps

- Bad belts
- CB's that were not tuned well
- Low fluids, (used a gallon of 90wt)
- Broken shackles
- Leaking power steering hoses
- Leaky trans lines
- Rear dif cover that hits gas tank skid plate
- Bad body mounts
- Bad starter connection
- Engine mounts
- Bad bearings on the transfer case
- Bad or low coolant
- No fire extinguisher
- Bad vent for rear end
- Low air pressure
- Low power steering fluid
- Loose spring u-bolts
Safety concerns:
- Bolt whittling rear cover away

- Front universal cap protruding from the axle. Could have hit and exploded axle.
- No or limited first aid kit
- Really bad bearings
- Really bad alignment
The club bought fluids and grease and every bit of it was used. Drinks were drunk
and food was ate. Everything was returned to normal and cleaned by the end of the
day. I think it was a great day.
I am tired.
